Cotswolds MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown volunteered this weekend at the Barnardo’s shop in Cirencester as part of national Make a Difference Day.

The annual event Make is organised by UK volunteering charity, Community Service Volunteers (CSV) and encourages people to get a taster experience of volunteer work providing an opportunity for people to make a big difference to their local community.

Mr Clifton-Brown was delighted to be able to offer his time and support to Barnardo’s and was heartened by the hard work of the staff at the store and the number of people who use the store and keep the charity going. Whilst working in the shop the MP was instrumental in persuading one of the customers to undertake a valuable volunteering role working in the store.

“Up and down the country Barnardo’s stores are a feature of town and city centres and their work is so vital and the impact are recognised by so many. I am pleased to have been able to join so many people nationwide in being involved in the Make a Difference Day and hope this idea will continue to flourish next year”

Barnardo’s has more than 6,000 volunteers who work in the charity’s retail department ensuring vital funds are raised to support vulnerable children, young people and families.
