Our children deserve nothing less than excellence.

Geoffrey Clifton-Brown today wrote to Jackie Hall, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People at Gloucestershire County Council, calling for immediate action to rectify the problems at Fairford Primary School. This follows the recent resignation of the Key Stage 1 and Reception teacher, the Chairman and other School Governors.

Mr Clifton-Brown said:
“I am gravely concerned by these resignations at Fairford. I visited the school on 23rd June and I found that this much liked teacher was playing a crucial role in bringing the school back to the high standards that pupils and parents rightly expect in Gloucestershire.

The school was placed in “Special Measures” in February, following the highly critical OFSTED report. However, I think that after this resignation the County Council needs to pay even closer attention to ensure that the shortcomings identified by Ofsted are really being addressed, and if not, take decisive action now – not wait for the HMI inspectors later this term. I have today written to Jackie Hall, making my view clear, and telling her that our children deserve nothing less.”
