Local MP to host rally in Cirencester.

Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, will host a Mass Rally to fight for Cotswolds Post Offices on Friday 11th May. The rally will be held at the Abbey Grounds, behind the Church and Market Place, in Cirencester, from noon.

Mr Clifton-Brown has written to all Post Offices, Parish Councils and other interested groups throughout the Cotswolds, enclosing the attached document, urging them to attend, and to spread the word throughout their communities. Speakers are currently being arranged.

Mr Clifton-Brown wrote: “I believe we must preserve our Rural Post Office network. Village post offices and local shops are the glue that holds our Cotswolds Communities together. The Government announced in December 2006 that around 2,500 Post Offices will close, hitting rural areas, like ours, the hardest.”
