Local MP supports charity to help those with disabilities.

Cotswold MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown became the first person to buy an Alexandra Rose for the charity Gloucestershire Lifestyles from Trustee Colin Parry and General Manager Sue McClung in Cirencester this week. Look out for more collections on 16th June in Market Place, Cirencester and on 23rd June, in Cheltenham, Gloucester and Lydney. The Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, Mr Henry Elwes, will be in attendance at the collection in Gloucester.

Alexandra Rose Day is unique. It is the only flag day in which individual local charities such as Gloucestershire Lifestyles are able to raise cash for themselves without having to pay out for their own collection boxes, licences etc – a big expense. Instead they are provided with everything they need, including Alexandra Roses for people to wear, which means more money for Gloucestershire Lifestyles.

Mr Clifton-Brown said: “I am delighted to support Gloucestershire Lifestyles’ collection with Alexandra Rose Day. Gloucestershire Lifestyles helps disabled people in Cirencester and across the county. The money raised with the Rose will help them carry on their important and valuable work”.

Sue McClung, General Manager of Gloucestershire Lifestyles says “I am delighted that Geoffrey got our collection under way. We decided to take part in Alexandra Rose Day as it seems such a simple and fun way for a local community charity like ours to raise vital funds. It’s not easy keeping a small charity like ours going”.
