Whilst I have not yet seen the detailed document emerging from Chequers, I support the agreement reached by the Cabinet which facilitates leaving the Single Market, Customs Union and subject to certain qualifications able to conduct Free Trade Agreements across the world.

It is important for jobs and investment that we should provide as much reassurance as possible to businesses.

Some of you may have seen my question to the Prime Minister this afternoon about every Government department’s readiness, which in the event of a ‘no’ deal will need to be as early as 29th March 2019

Whilst writing this, I have learnt of the resignation of the Foreign Secretary on top of that of the Brexit Secretary. While these are principled actions by two of my colleagues, whatever happens we are going to leave the European Union on 29th March 2019 and therefore the Prime Minister must get on with the job at hand.
