Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, Member of Parliament for The Cotswolds, visited the Genix Cirencester Dental Practice in Dugdale Road, Cirencester, on Friday 12th December 2014.

He has visited the practice before, when it opened in 2011, and has supported their work ever since. The dental practice is operated by Genix Healthcare Ltd, under the direction of Mustafa Mohammed. He launched Genix Healthcare Ltd in 2005 in an attempt to provide better access to NHS dental facilities.

Speaking afterwards Mr Clifton-Brown said: “I was pleased to visit Genix Cirencester again following its opening in 2011. It has gone from strength to strength, privately providing dental care free on the NHS. If you get a tooth ache today you can walk in, free of charge. Equally if you just need a check-up you are likely to get an appointment within a week.

“They pointed out that their workload is increasing, partly due to the fact that more people are keeping their teeth into old age, rather than relying on dentures. This is another facet as to how the NHS is providing a better service, which is costing more.

“Mustafa Mohammed was kind enough to travel all the way from London to greet me and explained that this is just one of the dental practices around the country this his company has set up. He is about to establish a new National Dental Laboratory in Huddersfield, which will improve his services even more.

“Included in my visit I was glad to meet their apprentice who demonstrated the value of the current modern apprenticeship scheme. She will get a good training from Genix on the ground and at the end of her apprenticeship she should get her City and Guilds qualification, which will hopefully enable her to get a good job anywhere as a dentist hygienist. This demonstrates how modern apprenticeships can take people from school and put them into good jobs.”
