Clifton-Brown demands answers on Cirencester Memorial Centre.
Cotswolds MP, Geoffrey Clifton-Brown today demanded answers on the future of the Cirencester Memorial Centre Day Hospital. Voicing his deep opposition to loss of any facilities in the town, Mr Clifton-Brown has written to Jeff James, the Chief Executive of the Gloucestershire Partnership Trust, demanding answers.
Mr Clifton-Brown said:
“I am deeply opposed to any threat of the services provided at the Memorial Centre and feel very strongly about mental health provision in the Cotswolds. It is facilities like the Memorial Centre that enable people with mental health problems to receive treatment, while remaining in a loving home environment. Mr James has stated the services are not under threat, and that the Trust is looking for alternative accommodation for services provided. However, there are some Issues that need to be clarified:
a) that the existing Centre will not be closed until an alternative is available;
b) that it will be in Cirencester; to provide for the town’s existing and future patients;
c) the timescale for the relocation.”
“It is important and urgent that answers to these questions are provided. I urge all of those who care about health provision in the Cotswolds to voice their opinion during the consultation period.”
