Cotswolds MP, Geoffrey Clifton-Brown today welcomed the highest bidders from the Tetbury Woolsack charity auction to Westminster. Mr and Mrs Poulton, of Tetbury successfully bid for a tour of the Palace of Westminster, donated by Mr Clifton-Brown.

“I was very pleased to welcome Mr and Mrs Poulton to the Palace of Westminster today, and that they were thrilled with their tour. They said that they found their tour guide was able to answer all of their questions about the history of the Palace in great depth. They generously bid to win a tour and raise much needed funds. Historically, the Woolsack Races has raised considerable money for local charities in Tetbury and the surrounding villages, and I am delighted to be able to do my bit.”

Mr Clifton-Brown has donated a prize for several years.

Woolsack Race Committee member, Ken White said:
“We are very grateful for Geoffrey’s continued support for this important Tetbury fundraising event. There is no other event like the Races throughout the country and owing to the generosity and hard work of all involved, we are fortunate to have raised over £4,000 this year.”
