Great visit to Rendcomb College to discuss democracy with the sixth-form students. It was an interesting and thought-provoking talk, where we considered our current system of democracy. My main message was that democracy will only ever work if people participate in one way or another. Many of the students will be turning 18 in the next year and I urged them to all engage with the next general election, by reading the manifestos of all the parties, watching debates, and of course voting. For those interested, I suggested joining me and my local team out canvassing, so that they could see what was involved in political campaigning for candidates.
