Visit to Dowty Propellers

Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, Member of Parliament for the North Cotswolds, visited Dowty Propellers, a subsidiary of GE Aerospace, last Friday. Located in the heart of the constituency, Dowty is key local employer with over 400 employees and a leader in advanced aerospace manufacturing.

The visit to Dowty’s facility in Brockworth provided an opportunity for Sir Geoffrey to tour the state-of-the-art facilities, meet with employees and apprentices, and learn about the company’s pioneering work in the design and production of aircraft propeller systems. Its products are used in applications that range from regional airliners and military airlifters to marine hovercraft. Dowty’s commitment to innovation and sustainability plays a crucial role in supporting the UK’s aerospace sector and bolstering the local economy.

Speaking after the visit, Sir Geoffrey said:

"It was a privilege to visit Dowty today and witness firsthand the incredible expertise and innovation taking place right here in Gloucestershire. This company is not only a major employer, providing high-quality jobs for our community, but also a leader in driving key advancements in carbon neutral and sustainable technology which strengthens the UK’s position in the global aerospace industry."

Sir Geoffrey also commended Dowty’s efforts to invest in skills development, including its apprenticeship programmes and collaboration with local educational institutions.

"I was privileged to meet some of Dowty’s apprentices and interns during my visit. Supporting initiatives that equip the next generation with advanced skills is vital for sustaining growth and ensuring that the UK remains at the forefront of this critical sector,"

he added.

The visit reaffirmed Sir Geoffrey’s commitment to advocating for policies that support manufacturing and innovation, ensuring that companies like Dowty can continue to thrive and contribute to the prosperity of the local area and the country.
