Cotswold MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown today welcomed the news that Stroud District Council has rejected Taylor Wimpey’s application to build 37 new houses at the Chestnut Park site in Kingswood.

The District Council’s Development Control Committee met today and voted unanimously to reject the application.

Commenting on the news Mr Clifton-Brown said, “This decision is a victory for common sense”.

“I am glad that the Council have paid heed to the vast number of local objections to this proposal, and the wide range of concerns that were aired, and have decided to reject the application. I commend their judgment.”

“In future I hope that property developers will pay far greater attention to the concerns of local people and take the necessary steps by holding public meetings to ascertain their concerns, which would be addressed in their planning applications.”
