Statement on Hyperion House

Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP for the Cotswolds was contacted earlier yesterday by a constituent who was desperately worried about their 93-year-old mother in Hyperion House in Fairford.

The situation was dire due to staff self-isolating or contacting Covid-19, with only two staff to care for the nearly 30 residents, some of whom have tested positive for Covid-19.

Through a combination of Gloucestershire Adult Care, Cllr Stephen Andrews, and Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP, they managed to arrange an emergency evacuation of all 26 patients to Stratton Court Care Home in Cirencester.

Commenting, Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP said:

“Resolving this emergency situation is one of those rare win-win cases. The patients will be properly cared for over Christmas, the staff at Hyperion House are hugely relieved, and Stratton Court are thrilled to have their number of residents boosted.”
