Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown learns about innovative road repair techniques

This morning, I visited a site just east of Cheltenham, along with Max Wilkinson MP, to meet representatives from Gloucestershire Highways and Gloucestershire County Council.

Councillor Stephen Davies, Leader of Gloucestershire County Council, Jason Humm, Director of Transport and Highways and other members of Ringway and Gloucestershire Highways were on site to discuss highway operations and recent progress.

We were shown a number of different methods currently being used to repair and maintain our county's roads including the Spray Injection and Roadmender machines.

The Roadmender is a relatively new addition to Gloucestershire Highways and uses around 80% of recycled materials, including nine vehicle tyres, in every tonne of material produced. It is also a very quick process, to both apply and use almost immediately afterwards.

Gloucestershire Highways are on track to have carried out 90,000 minor road repairs by the end of this financial year and more than 100 miles of the county’s roads have been resurfaced.
