In a letter to Cotswold MP, Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, Mike Penning MP, Minister at the Department for Transport confirmed that essential maintenance works are programmed to take place on the A419 Isis Bridge, which is located between Cirencester and Swindon, immediately north of the Cricklade Junction.

In his letter to Mr Clifton-Brown the Minister stated:

“The maintenance works are required to repair the damaged bridge deck waterproofing on the southbound carriageway of Isis Bridge. The works will include the removal of the existing road surface and waterproofing, repair of defects to the bridge deck and laying new waterproofing and surfacing. Works are only required to the southbound carriageway as the northbound carriageway remains in good condition.”

“To carry out this maintenance work safely, it will be necessary to close the southbound carriageway between 20.00 hours on Friday 20 May and 06.00 hours on Monday 23 May. To minimise disruption to the travelling public, preparatory woks will be completed in the two weeks proid to the weekend closure using overnight lane closures.

“During the work advance signing and Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be used to divert southbound traffic along the diversion route details on the enclosed plan. Motorway VMS signs on the M5 and the M40 will also be utilised to advise long distance uses to seek alternative routes.”
