Full text of letter to Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt, hand delivered to the Department for Health, London, by Gloucestershire's Conservative MPs, and nurses from the county.

We are writing on behalf of the people of Gloucestershire, and share their grave concerns at recent announcements by our Primary Care Trusts of cuts in services, culminating in today’s announcement.

The people of Gloucestershire are furious at the news of the closure of Community Hospitals and Mental Care Institutions. The funding of our Foundation Hospital Trust has been slashed and a whole range of other services have been cut, closed or curtailed.

We believe that everybody in this country deserves their fair share of NHS resources, and this is not happening in Gloucestershire.

We are writing to request an urgent meeting with you as soon as possible to discuss the issues and legitimate concerns of our constituents, and the people of the County as a whole.
