Cotswolds MP, Geoffrey Clifton-Brown today spoke in a debate which he had requested in Westminster Hall, on behalf of two constituents who have suffered because of incompetence and maladminstration by the Child Support Agency.

Mr Clifton-Brown demanded answers for his constituents, Ms Sonia Poulton of Cirencester, and Mr David Dalleywater of Moreton-in-Marsh who have experienced severe problems with the Child Support Agency for ten years and seven years respectively. Mr Clifton-Brown has been very active to secure resolution for his constituents, with the Government Agency.

Mr Clifton-Brown highlighted the long case histories of both constituents, and appealed to the Government to put right errors which he stated were “amongst the worst cases of officialdom working against the vulnerable and the weak, that I have witnessed in fifteen years in this House.”

Mr Clifton-Brown said:
“When I laid out the details of these cases, as I was able to this morning, it illustrated in graphic detail the gross incompetence of the Child Support Agency. The Minster was extremely apologetic in her reply, and promised that she would personally undertake to rectify these cases in a ‘short period of time’.

My constituents can rest assured that if this does not materialise, I will take further action.”

Mrs Anne McGuire MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary for Work & Pensions, who responded to Mr Clifton-Browns requests, was deeply apologetic, and promised to find a resolution as soon as practicable.
