8 March 2010
Residents from Moreton-in-Marsh, Lechlade and the surrounding areas are invited to two public meetings organised by Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP on the 19 March to discuss the issue of flood alleviation and resilience in the two towns. Councillors and representatives from the County, District and Town Council will be in attendance along with officials from Thames Water and the Environment Agency to hear of peoples concerns.

The meeting in Moreton will seek look at the work that has been achieved to tackling the problems highlighted by 2007’s floods following from the meetings called by Mr Clifton-Brown in April and September last year to accelerate what he saw as being insufficient action on these vital issues up to that point.

The meeting in Lechlade will seek to establish a similar response from the authorities in the town, with a meeting to be called again in around 6 months to assess what progress has been made there.

Mr Clifton-Brown will also use the opportunity to raise the issue of flood resilience and alleviation with in Fairford with the relevant officials
