Following the Government’s announcement that Highways England will launch the ‘missing link’ consultation on 15 February 2018, local MP, Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown commented:
“I am delighted that Highways England have finally announced a date for the consultation to be launched. This follows years of campaigning on my part to get to this stage.
“This consultation is extremely important because it is the first stage in the official process to build the A417 ‘missing link’.
“I would like to encourage as many people as possible to have their say in this consultation here. Once this has concluded on 29 March 2018, the Secretary of State will announce his preferred route and the detailed work on design, tendering and a possible public inquiry can all begin.
“The aim will be to encourage the Government to begin building as soon as the new Road Investment Strategy funding round begins in 2020.”
