Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, Member of Parliament for The Cotswolds, was delighted to attend the unveiling of a plaque at Melcourt Industries in Tetbury celebrating their award of the Prince of Wales Royal Warrant.

Melcourt Industries was established over 30 years ago and has been highly innovative in producing a range of top quality environmental and organic products such as compost for gardens and parks and a range of bark for public and private playgrounds, which is much more environmentally sustainable than synthetic rubber.

Their latest diversification is into grobags, enabling flowers and vegetables to be grown almost anywhere. They have invested several millions of pounds into the business to improve production and they now employ 14 people with an annual turnover of £8 million.

Commenting on his visit, Sir Geoffrey said:

“This is an excellent example of a successful, ambitious and innovative business that employs a number of longstanding local people. It is precisely this sort of business that makes the Cotswolds such a great place to live and work.”

Managing Director, Andy Chalmers said:

“Melcourt Industries Ltd were delighted to welcome MP for the Cotswolds Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown to unveil its new Royal Warrant plaque on Friday 1st March. Melcourt was awarded a Royal Warrant from HRH the Prince of Wales for the supply of peat-free organic growing media last year and the unveiling by Sir Geoffrey was a fitting celebration.”
