The Member of Parliament for The Cotswolds, Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP, has waded into the row over the future of Tetbury and Fairford leisure centres. He urges all parties to come together and stop wrangling about who was responsible for what and to instead focus on finding a funding package that at least keeps the two leisure centres open for use during the summer and Christmas holidays until a permanent solution is found.
Sir Geoffrey has said, “While the argument goes on between those responsible, the real losers are the people of Tetbury and Fairford who wish to have fun and exercise using these leisure centres. I urge all parties to come together and I call upon Cllr. Joe Harris and the new Liberal Democrat administration at Cotswolds District Council to provide an emergency funding package as a common sense short-term solution, giving time to all involved to find a more permanent solution.”
