Cotswolds MP, Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, today (9 August) held a meeting between Mark Wright, Network Change Development Manager for Post Office Ltd, and Lee Cox and Chris Epps, the two owners of The Beeches Stores. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the commercial viability of a new Post Office in The Beeches to both Post Office Ltd and the owners of The Beeches Stores.

The Beeches Post Office was closed in 2008 during a nationwide Network Closure Programme, despite a vigorous campaign led by Mr Clifton-Brown and supported by large numbers of constituents.

At the meeting it was revealed that Post Office Ltd are looking at their operating models for the entire country and are likely to have a new product on offer by next April or May.

Commenting on the meeting, Mr Clifton-Brown said, “I was very happy to be able to arrange this meeting between Mark Wright of the Post Office Ltd, Lee Cox and Chris Epps, the owners of The Beeches Stores, and myself.”

“This was a very important step to get both sides together to discuss the feasibility of a new Post Office in The Beeches and I was encouraged to hear that the Post Office are considering new models for their entire network.”

“I will remain in discussions with both the Post Office and the owners of The Beeches Stores on this matter and once the Post Office have developed their new product I will arrange a further meeting between the Post Office and Lee and Chris to establish whether it will be applicable to The Beeches.”
