Geoffrey Clifton-Brown has expressed his delight at the award of the MBE to Fairford Councillor Chris Roberts, which she collected at Windsor Castle last week.

Speaking today, Mr Clifton-Brown said “I have known Cllr. Roberts for a many years in her current role as a District Councillor and as a Town Councillor, Deputy Mayor and Mayor of Fairford.”

“She should be as proud of the work she has done for the people of Fairford as she should be praised for it. The list of her achievements bears testimony not just too how hard she has worked for Fairford, but for how long she has contributed to the community.”

In reflecting on Cllr Roberts work Mr Clifton-Brown has pointed to her leadership in helping to form the River Coln Project Team to tackle flood alleviation issues, helping to build and raise funds for Fairford Community Centre and the South Cerney Playgroup, starting Fairford and Lechlade Business Club, her work to prevent the closure of Fairford Hospital and her role as a member of the working group to reduce Ambulance Response Times.

Mr Clifton-Brown added “This list is by no means exhaustive. It is fair to say that there are very few people or organisations in Fairford’s community that have not benefited from Cllr Roberts involvement and I look forward to hearing of her continued achievements in the coming months and years”
