Cotswold MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown gave a helping hand to postal workers with their Christmas deliveries last Friday (Dec 7).

Mr Clifton-Brown said he was delighted to fulfil what is becoming a pre-Christmas tradition by visiting the new purpose built sorting office in Cirencester.

He was able to see the huge improvement in working conditions compared to the cramped environment at the old site on Black Jack Street.

Mr Clifton-Brown also discussed the concerns and views of most of the postmen and post mistresses who deliver in the Cirencester area.

Inevitably the subject of post office closures arose and with the results of the consultation due in the New Year, Mr Clifton-Brown was keen to show his support for all postal workers.

"We all owe a thank you to our post men and women who do such a wonderful job in not only tackling the huge volumes of Christmas mail, but delivering our mail all year round come rain or shine," he said.
