MP gives verdict on Fairford Hospital decision.

Giving his verdict on the decision by the Primary Care Trust to close all 15 in-patient beds at Fairford Hospital, the Member of Parliament for The Cotswold, Geoffrey Clifton-Brown has reacted with anger and dismay.

He said, “This disgraceful decision was forced upon the Primary Care Trust by a Government that simply does not care about people who live in rural areas. The Government was elected on a promise to support community hospitals and provide a diversity of choice in the NHS. This decision clearly demonstrates that the Government is prepared to break the promises it made to the people of this country at the General Election. It is contrary to the interests of the people of Fairford and the surrounding area and it will prove damaging to their health.
