Cotswolds MP wants answers on acute beds at Cirencester hospital.

Geoffrey Clifton-Brown today expressed his frustration at not being able to get answers on the future for the acute beds at Cirencester Hospital.

Mr Clifton-Brown said:
“I am hearing disturbing rumours from various sources, that the company that will take over Cirencester Hospital, UK Specialist Hospitals, will not require the acute beds. This would mean that acute cases from Cheltenham and Gloucester, or some operations like hysterectomies will not be able to take place. It may also mean that some accident and emergency cases will not be treated at Cirencester – this is particularly serious, as in these cases every second counts. I have stated many times before, how important I believe it is that people are treated close to home.

Despite trying for two days, I have not been able to contact Jan Stubbings, the Chief Executive of the Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust. I will report back next week, by which time I hope to have some clear answers.”
