Changing Places provide the right equipment, space, safety, and clean environment for people with multiple or profound learning disabilities, or physical disabilities to use the toilet in comfort. This week I received a letter which announced that Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £40,000 to build two Changing Place facilities across two sites. Over £500,000 has been made available to 10 Trusts across England to start work on 16 new facilities, with a further £1.5 million made available to bid for. There is a challenge to access suitable facilities in public spaces and this funding will make a real difference to the thousands of patients and carers who use the Hospital.
