Local MP, Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, recently met with Stow Town Councillor, Ben Eddolls; Town Clerk, Heather Sipthop; and the Director of Development at Brio Retirement, Karl Hallows, to discuss what steps can be taken to ensure that Stow-on-the-Wold receives acceptable local investment following the construction of a new state-of-the-art retirement village in the town.

Sir Geoffrey stressed the importance of establishing a lasting commercial relationship between Brio and the town in order to contribute financially towards local infrastructure, such as the local cemetery paths and for annual events like the firework display.

Commenting on the meeting, Sir Geoffrey said:

“I am delighted to help Stow Town Council establish a lasting commercial relationship with Brio Retirement. The meeting that I facilitated was encouraging and appeared to establish a constructive relationship between the developer and the Town Council.

“The developer suggested that they were prepared to consider a capital investment by consulting local people in conjunction with the Parish Council on such projects as cemetry paths and also that they would be happy to contribute to local annual events. This is an excellent outcome.”
