The big yellow bus project

During a recent visit to Cirencester College, Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP had the opportunity to discuss the Big Yellow Bus project based in Cirencester. The project is focused on providing rough sleepers with low cost, overnight accommodation which is especially important during the colder months.

The Big Yellow Bus has been converted to provide warm, comfortable sleeping and basic cooking facilities. The design was carefully considered and includes an area for females to sleep with privacy and security. The project is funded by donations and the proceeds of local charity events.

Sir Geoffrey received a kind invite to be shown around the bus at some point and discuss the project further.

Commenting on the project, Sir Geoffrey said:

“The Big Yellow Bus project is truly inspirational, and the volunteers do a fantastic job in helping vulnerable people in the area. I look forward to organising a visit to the bus to discuss the work being done in more detail.

“I firmly believe that just one person without a roof over their head is one too many, and it is vitally important that the most vulnerable people in society are supported, that is why I am pleased over £1.2 billion has been allocated to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping through to 2020. While this is welcome progress, there is much more to be done”
