A417 Missing Link Scheme visit

This morning, I visited the A417 Missing Link Scheme to see the progress being made, as they work towards a completion date of Spring 2027.

Ahead of my tour of the site, I met with representatives from contractor Keir and National Highways, where I raised individual constituent concerns and queries, and discussed the programme of works.

Since my last visit in August 2024, it is very clear that work has advanced at pace. One million cubic metres of rock has now been excavated, with 2024 being the first proper year of earth works on site, following the clearing of the area in 2023.

At the end of January, the beams for the thirty seven metre long bridge will be delivered and construction will continue on the largest structure of its kind in the UK. The bridge will cross eight lanes of traffic and will accommodate the Gloucestershire Way, enabling horse riders, walkers and cyclists to cross the A417.

National Highways often hold Public Information Events, where you are able to visit the site in person and learn more about the project. More information about these events is available on the National Highways website.
