A417 gets the go-ahead from the Treasury

National Highways have received approval from the Treasury for the A417 Missing Link today.  This approval means that the project is now all steam ahead and work can begin. They will start on ground clearance, with construction starting later this year with construction expected to take three years. When complete there will be a dual carriageway linking the M4 to the M5 this will mean faster and more predictable journeys avoiding the twice-daily queues.

Commenting on the news from the Treasury, Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP for the Cotswolds said:

“After 15 years of continuous campaigning I am delighted to receive this news, the residents of Gloucestershire and motorists who regularly use the A417 should be warmly welcoming today's news.”
