Across the world, most countries are dealing with the fallout from a once-in-a-century pandemic. Additionally, Putin's illegal war in Ukraine has exacerbated inflationary pressures and impeded post-pandemic economic recovery. 

In light of these challenges, I welcome that the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, is taking action to tackle the cost-of-living crisis and strengthen the UK's economy. His promises to the British public – to halve inflation, grow the economy, and reduce debt – are the right priorities, and I am committed to helping the Government achieve this.
